As we enter the new year, Schaeffler is highlighting the perennial issue of counterfeit bearings, and the widespread injury and material damage caused. With the Internet opening up more opportunities to buy bearings manufactured in India, the Far East and Africa but sold through non-certified traders across the world, including an increasing number of European outlets, this is a growing problem. Indeed, according to a study published by the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce), the annual economic and social costs resulting from this amounts to USD 1.7 billion worldwide.
