This session will explain the serious consequences of not having a
competent person carrying out fire safety work. It will also tell
delegates ways of how to ensure that contractors are qualified to
undertake fire safety work.
14:00 - 15:00 Fire Safety Mock Trial
Delegates will be the judge and jury for the reenactment of a real life
trial, which examines the role of Responsible Person under the
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

This session will offer advice on how to ensure you have a
competent contractor carrying out fire safety work. It will give
examples of how patients and staff are kept safe in hospitals in the
event of a fire.
10:15 - 10:45 Importance of suitable passive fire
protection and cladding
This session will cover the importance of insuring buildings has
suitable passive fire protection to prevent the spread of fire and
causing a major incident and also how to ensure you are using safe
products to provide suitable passive fire protection.
11:15 - 11:45 Is your building compliant with fire
This session will be delivered by leading fire safety lawyer Kathryn
Turner who will ask probing questions to delegates to ensure their
premises are compliant with fire safety laws. Dr Bob Docherty will
also ask the question Does your building confirm - when an
inspector calls. Both will give key advice on fire safety compliance
to avoid the threat of prosecutions.
13:00 - 15:15 Institute of Fire Safety Managers -
Fire Safety and Competency Seminar
IFSM will be holding 2 technical seminars, which are available for
all delegates to attend and will end the session with their Annual
General Meeting. Steve Wilcock will deliver a session on human
behaviour during a fire and Paul Williams will cover
photoluminescent - the way forward. This is a great way to network
with other fire safety managers and also gain CPD hours.
