Hanwha Techwin introduces
Wisenet X PTZ PLUS cameras
cameras can capture evidence-grade
images of objects up to a distance of
200 metres regardless of the lighting
conditions. They do so with the help
of adaptive infrared (IR)
technology which adjusts the
angle of the camera’s IR LEDs to
match zoom levels.
At the heart of the Wisenet X
PTZ PLUS cameras is Wisenet7,
Hanwha Techwin’s proprietary
chipset which offers an
impressive list of technologies
that significantly enhance the
cameras’ cyber security credentials.
Wisenet7 also ensures the capture
of “superb quality” images.

IDIS video technology cuts
criminality at Meridian South
AN UPGRADE of video technology
Hall & Kay Security Engineering
at a South London development has
was asked to solve this problem by
proven to be so effective that the
implementing an advanced, end-to-end
system has been scaled upwards. The
IDIS video solution, implemented by
Hall & Kay Security Engineering at
the Meridian South site in Hither
Green, is less obtrusive than the
system it replaced and has
immediately delivered better results.
Although the mixed development,
comprising 440 owner-occupied and
rented properties, is a safe and
pleasant environment for most of the
time, to maintain this high standard,
site managers needed to tackle the
growing dual problems of petty
crime and anti-social behaviour.
Issues were being reported with
increasing frequency, including
rubbish being dumped by short-term
tenants vacating their apartments,
theft from mailboxes, vandalism and
car-related crime. Rubbish removal
was costing the site’s management
firm more than £12,000 per annum.
video solution from IDIS.
The team began by replacing the
ten column-mounted PTZ cameras
with IDIS cameras. IDIS technicians
visited the site with the engineers
and conducted a bandwidth test on
the existing cabling. By using the
resident coax with IDIS Ethernet
converters, up to four IDIS bullet
cameras could be cost-effectively
mounted on each existing column.
Additionally, wireless access
points were installed where cameras
couldn’t be cabled directly to the
estate’s Security Control Room. This
approach actively eliminates blind
spots and guarantees that events on
site will not be missed whenever the
system happens to be unmanned.
To provide wider coverage, a
further six columns were added and
additional IDIS cameras mounted in
the underground car parking areas.
The system now delivers Full-HD
images in all lighting conditions,
with built-in IR ensuring night-time
image capture at distances of
anything up to 30 metres.
The 57 IDIS Full-HD IR cameras,
and the three NVRs each boasting 12
TB of storage, benefit from true
plug-and-play set up with DirectIP.

HID GLOBAL’S new ELEMENT
product line is being badged as “the
industry’s first heavy-duty, fully
modular desktop-based card
personalisation portfolio” that
establishes a new category for the
mid-range as well as the high-volume
market segments.
The portfolio’s enhanced card
production capabilities, flexible
system architecture and cost-effective
deployment model
empower end user organisations to
create custom secure ID and
financial card production solutions
for a wide variety of different use
cases and applications.
“From Government entities
through to financial card issuers and
service bureaus, customers around
the world have unique card
personalisation and issuance
requirements where traditional
direct-to-card printers and large
production machines may be too
cost-prohibitive or, indeed, space-prohibitive,”
explained Craig
Sandness, vice-president and
managing director of Secure
Issuance at HID Global.
Sandness added: “By bridging the
gap between desktop printers and
central issuance machines, the HID
ELEMENT product line pioneers a
new approach for delivering a host of
highly configurable options that
address current and evolving
customer challenges.”

gate tested to both the
international standard for vehicle
resistance (IWA 14) and forced entry
protection (LPS 1175).
The company’s Terra bi-folding
gate is the first and only Hostile
Vehicle Mitigation product to be
listed in the Red Book Live to both
IWA 14-1 and LPS 1175.
The Terra gate has been designed
to resist manual forced entry in
accordance with LPS 1175: Issue 8
Security Rating 2 (B3). Such attacks
typically involve the use of a wide
array of highly portable and
concealable manual tools and last for
at least three minutes.
In what the business describes as a
“world first”, the Double Leaf Terra
bi-folding gate has also met the
requirements of IWA 14-1, stopping
a 7.2-tonne vehicle travelling at 30
mph with minimal penetration.

ONVIF issues Profile M Release
Candidate focused on analytics
ONVIF, THE global standardisation
initiative for IP-based physical
security products, has introduced the
Release Candidate for Profile M.
This draft specification standardises
the communication of metadata and
event handling of analytics for
today’s smart applications.
In addition, Profile M paves the
way for increased interoperability of
IP cameras or analytics applications
with video management systems, as
well as easier integration with
Internet of Things (IoT) systems. It
provides a standard way of
communicating metadata between
edge devices or services, such as IP
cameras or analytics apps for
devices, and clients, such as video
management software (VMS),
network video recorders or
server/cloud-based services.
This means that systems
integrators and end users can flexibly
mix and match solutions from
different providers of analytics, edge
devices and VMS or cloud services,
together with IoT applications, into
one efficient and effective system.
