SSAIB – Third Party Certification
The Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) is a leading UKAS
accredited certification body for organisations providing fire detection and alarm
systems, security systems and services. Founded in 1994, SSAIB promotes high
standards of service and is focused on serving the certification needs of organisations
providing fire safety and security related services.

SSAIB certification is a mark of
excellence. Our approach is inclusive of
small and larger providers alike and we
have some 1,950 companies registered,
which means that we represent the
greatest number of security and fire
service providers in the sector. SSAIB
has wide UKAS accreditation, which
means that our certification is subject to
independent scrutiny and validation
against international standards.
Third-party certification plays an
increasingly significant role in enabling
firms to compete in the marketplace,
while access to some market sectors may
be conditional on having third-party
certification. SSAIB offer various BAFE
schemes including BAFE SP 203 – Fire
Detection and Alarm Systems, BAFE
SP101 Competency of Portable Fire
Extinguisher Organizations and
Technicians and BAFE SP 205 Life
Safety Fire Risk Assessment, BAFE
SP203-4 Emergency Lighting Systems
and BAFE SP207 Evacuation Alert
Systems. A BAFE Scheme is a set of
comprehensive competency
requirements that have been developed
to incorporate the high-quality
standards and best working practice for
services within the fire safety industry. •
