Desiccant Air Dryer Packages
and Engineered Solutions
Silicair Dryers was formed in 1967 and has well in excess of
50 years’ experience in providing the compressed air
industry with engineered air treatment packages for the
removal of airborne contaminants, liquid water, oil
aerosols and obviously water vapour to provide the
downstream process with a very high quality dry air or
inert gas supply. Packages have been supplied as individual
dryers or total engineered solutions in the form of turn-key
complex dryer / filtration / controls skid packages (as
pictured below). Many packages manufactured over the
years by Silicair are still in active use in all parts of the
World and continuing to give reliable operation with
comprehensive technical and spare parts support provided
by our Aftersales operation.
In more recent years, the Company focus has moved to
concentrating generally on smaller but more complex units
designed for specific applications as mentioned below.
INSTRUMENT AND PROCESS AIR DRYER PACKAGES.
Silicair Dryers have traditionally supported many instrument and
process applications for both the offshore and onshore oil and
gas industry, as well as providing dryer modules for use in all
sectors of general industry through from power generation to
food and drink applications. Units have also often been installed
in arduous locations and environments such as in quarries or
onboard ship, as well as in many other outdoor locations. These
highly engineered products and associated components along
with purpose built rugged construction has often led to
increased product life and operational longevity, which is why so
many units are still in operation long after project installation and
MEDIUIM AND HIGH-PRESSURE DRYER APPLICATIONS.
In addition to the supply of equipment for compressed air dryer
installations working at standard industrial pressures (7.0 – 13.0
bar g), Silicair Dryers specialise in the design and supply of
systems for medium and high pressure applications. Whether this
be for valve testing, breathing air storage systems for any other
application requiring very dry air at these higher pressures, Silicair
Dryers can provide suitable systems including dryer / filters and
controls. Dryer packages can be considered for up to 50 bar g
and then with an alternative design, for even higher pressures up
to 400-450 bar g as required, again with installed filtration and
onboard control systems and dewpoint monitoring facilities.
MEDICAL AIR AND DENTAL AIR INSTALLATIONS.
Used in conjunction with any suitably sized compressor(s), these
specialist units are manufactured and supplied to meet the
stringent requirements for this highly critical sector of the
marketplace and to provide medical and / or dental air supplies
to meet the air quality requirements of HTM 02-01 specification.
The Medical Air packages nominally work at 10 – 13 bar g and
contain fully duplexed dryer and filtration systems with all
necessary alarms and on-board pressure regulation stations to
enable the outlet air to be delivered at the required pressures.
These cover for both medical air (4 bar g) and surgical air (7 bar g)
supplies that must be in place for hospital medical air and some
dental air installations. Control systems and dewpoint monitoring
are provided to again ensure that the HTM 02-01 guidelines are
met, so the automatic duty standby changeover operation is
achieved in the event of an alarm condition thus ensuring a
continued supply of air to the hospital supply. Dental Air systems
can comprise of either simplex or duplex dryer arrangements with
or without the need for regulated outlet pressures.
AFTERSALES AND TECHNICAL PRODUCT SUPPORT
Many of the Silicair Dryers products and packages have extended
operational lifecycles and it not uncommon for dryer sets still to
be operational after 25 years or more of service. As a result, this
section of the business continues to expand as more units are
supported throughout their lifecycle both in the UK and
Overseas installations. The extended reliability in service leads to
spare parts and technical assistance being required over a longer
period. To provide this technical product support on operational
issues and the required routine and capital spare parts,
comprehensive contract records and project data files are all
available to provide the information needed by customer /
operators to keep their equipment in operational order.
For further assistance on any aspect of compressed air drying
activities, whether it be information or advice for a new project
installation or to help with an existing operational unit, please
contact Silicair Dryers for further assistance.
